The church of San Francesco, with its adjoining former convent, was one of the first convent complexes to be built on Lucanian soil, in fact the church portal bears the date 1307, a sign that at that time the church was already functioning. The convent of the Minor Conventual was suppressed in 1808 and the church was rededicated to St. Joachim (in honour of Murat). The church was renovated in the first decades of the eighteenth century, as evidenced by the baroque stuccoes, on a pre-existing hall with a "barn" architectural scheme (typical of early Franciscan churches). Currently the sacred building houses some works of art of considerable importance, such as the wooden choir of 1645, the wooden ceiling "guazzo" (tempera on wood) by De Martino from Buonabitacolese in 1745, some valuable paintings.
