The S. Antonio church on the main square of Ortisei was built in 1673-1676 in Renaissance style. A church on this square was already mentioned in 1430, the church as it is today was built between 1673 and 1676 in Renaissance style. In the 80s of the last century it was restored. The church is characterised by its 29 m high bulbous bell tower, in which there are three bells.
Inside there are six painted windows and a glass rosette from the 19th century. The altar was decorated by the Swiss painter Melchior Paul von Deschwanden. The statues next to it represent Saints Ruprecht and Ulrich, works by the artist Johannes Vinatzer from the year 1684. The 12 oil paintings depicting scenes from the life of St. Anthony date back to the 17th century. Today, St. Anthony’s Church celebrates the Gospel Mass.
Particularly noteworthy are also the side altars with oil paintings by Josef Moroder-Lusenberg, the altarpiece of St. Anthony of Padua and the Lourdes grotto with sculptures of the Virgin Mary.
