In the heart of the Alpe di Siusi, Castelrotto is a delightful South Tyrolean village where you can breathe history.
It is located in a fairytale setting, a real gem, surrounded by the Sciliar Natural Park, in the Dolomites Unesco World Heritage Site, and in 2018 it became one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
It has a delightful old town dominated by the church of Saints Peter and Paul in neoclassical style, the frescoed buildings and the baroque bell tower on which you can climb to admire the picturesque heart of the village and the hill from above.
With a typically medieval urban fabric and a unique artistic and cultural heritage (it is one of the few places where Ladin is still spoken), the village welcomes tourists summer and winter in the central square and testifies, along the alleys and through the houses, the life of the past. The ruins of the ancient castle of Castelvecchio dominate the village from the top of Punta Santner, at 1,273 meters.
