From the station area we move to the Cannaregio district where we find one of the oldest bridges in the city: the Ponte del Chiodo. There are 446 bridges in Venice, originally they were all built in stone and generally without the side protections called "bande", or "spallette", since 1600, as shown by the paintings of the great Venetian painters of the ‘700. The Ponte del Chiodo has remained like this, without protections, as were the first bridges in Venice. Finding it is quite simple: from Campo San Felice, near Strada Nuova, follow the Fondamenta San Felice until the end.
