The walled city of Pizzighettone offers visitors one of the most complete and significant bastioned circles in northern Italy, a magnificent example of military architecture that has survived to the present day. Situated as a knight of the river Adda, the ancient stronghold runs for about two kilometres around the old town centre, with a height of twelve metres, a width of fifteen metres and a wall thickness that in some places reaches five metres.
