Salmour: Salmatoris Palace and the Shroud

Palazzo Salmatoris is the most important palace of the city: it hosted the Shroud in 1706 and here the Peace of 1631 was signed as the Napoleonic Armistice of 1796. The room of the Holy Shroud – said of Silence – was frescoed by Sebastiano Taricco, an important local painter. Also noteworthy are the monumental staircase and the decorations of the other rooms.
