The Synagogue and the Jewish Cemetery
The Jews had a great role in the Risorgimento thanks to the Emancipation wanted by Carlo Alberto in 1848. The first Jew who graduated from the University of Turin was the engineer De Benedetti of Cherasco, in just six months! Hidden as the old laws of the ghetto wanted, the Synagogue rises almost on the main street, it opens only on special occasions or by appointment but it is worth a visit. As well as the Jewish Cemetery, where some of the most illustrious Italian Jews rest.
