The Royal Estate of Carditello, also known as the Royal Site of Carditello or, with reference to the building there, Reggia di Carditello, was part of a group of 22 sites of the royal dynasty of the Bourbons of Naples located in the Land of Work: Royal Palace of Naples, Reggia di Capodimonte, Tenuta degli Astroni, Villa d’Elboeuf, Reggia di Portici, Villa Favorita, Palazzo d’Avalos on the island of Procida, Lake Agnano, Licola, Capriati a Volturno, Cardito, Reale tenuta di Carditello, Reale tenuta di Persano, Fusaro di Maddaloni, Selva di Caiazzo, Sant’Arcangelo, Reggia di Caserta, San Leucio, Casino del Fusaro, Casino di Quisisana, Mondragone and Demanio di Calvi.
These sites were not only simple places for recreation (especially for hunting) of the Bourbon royal family and its court, since, it is important to underline, that in some cases they were real companies, an expression of entrepreneurship inspired by the Enlightenment ideas in vogue at the time. We mention, for example, the farms of Fagianeria di Caiazzo, the production of silk at San Leucio, fishing at Fusaro, the farms of Tenuta di Persano and Demanio di Calvi.
The Real sito di Carditello was handed over in May 2016 by the Campania Museum Pole to the Foundation of the same name, created by an agreement between the Ministry of Cultural and Environmental Heritage and Tourism, the Campania Region and the Municipality of San Tammaro.
