Lake Sorapis is one of the most beautiful places in the Dolomites. Both young and old are enchanted by the turquoise water of this lake, which lies at an altitude of 1,900 metres. The pastel colours of the turquoise lake, with white rocky walls and gentle pastures in the background, make this place truly magical. Located about 150 m from the Vandelli Hut, this Dolomite lake can only be reached on foot.
The lake takes its name from the group of mountains to the south-east of Cortina d’Ampezzo, whose highest peak is Punta Sorapiss at 3,205 m. This is the reason why in the case of the Sorapis Lake you can very often find the spelling with "double-s" – therefore the Sorapiss Lake.
The starting point for this hike is, as already mentioned, Passo Tre Croci.
