A very particular place inside the Ducal Palace is the Apartment of the Court Dwarfs. In this room everything is made on a small scale, as if it were the home of little gnomes.
The name "Apartment of the dwarfs or of the gnomes" has a logic, I remember that the gnomon was an instrument to measure the path of the sun and here there is a clear reference to the solar tradition and to Pythagoreanism, also because in the history of the Gonzaga of Mantua there is no trace of dwarfs, and so these rooms were built expressly for other purposes, such as a retreat to practice particular exercises. A navel from which one could access eternal wisdom, an environment that favoured the stripping of the ego. The various rooms were built with low ceilings with particular colors that faded from the bottom up games of drawings that favored the journey of the mind, all immersed in a deep silence.
