Villa Moroni is a historical Villa built at the beginning of 1600. It was built on a pre-existing "patron’s house" always owned by the same family of Counts Moroni who still own it and live there. Together with Palazzo Moroni of Bergamo, it was part of the family’s patrimony and presided over an important farm that reached as far as Colognola, occupying, among others, what is now Kilometro Rosso. Mulberry trees were cultivated to breed silkworms, which were the economic source of maintenance of the important estate. In 1800 the Villa reached an extension of about 300 linear meters for a depth of 80 meters. With the first imports of silk from China in 1800, the production of silkworm cocoons lost its importance and the countryside was converted to the production of cereals and partly to vineyards. The buildings were partially sold and converted to functions more in step with the times. A bank branch was installed in the stables, while the coach house was converted into a reception room called the Sala della Dama. Today it is an important location for weddings.
