Inaugurated by Emperor Hadrian (126 DC) and completed by Caracalla (200 AD), the Roman Theater is missing two of the upper orders of the arch but is spectacular all the same: 90 meters in diameter and made for 10,000 spectators, with 25 incredible arches, a marble cavea and some stunning stucco elements. For a truly memorable visit, go there for one of the summer shows which are held here from time to time: with its lighting and stage sets, chromatic games and perspectives, it can hold its own with the famous Arena in Verona.
