Great Wines of Campania: Aglianico del Taburno DOCG

The Aglianico del Taburno DOCG denomination is reserved to the wines of the Rosso, Rosso Riserva and Rosato typologies, produced from grapes of the Aglianico vine (min. 85%), the remaining part being composed of grapes of black berry vines, authorized for cultivation in the province of Benevento, in Campania. The production area of Aglianico del Taburno DOCG wines includes the entire administrative territory of the municipalities of Apollosa, Bonea, Campoli del Monte Taburno, Castelpoto, Foglianise, Montesarchio, Paupisi, Torrecuso and Ponte and partly the territory of the municipalities of Benevento, Cautano, Vitulano and Tocco Caudio, all in the province of Benevento.An area often called "the Chianti of Campania". Controlled and guaranteed designation of origin Aglianico del Taburno red wine must undergo a compulsory ageing period of at least two years; controlled and guaranteed designation of origin Aglianico del Taburno red reserve wine must undergo a compulsory ageing period of at least three years, of which at least twelve months in wooden barrels and six months in the bottle.
