Walking along via Libertini, on the right, stands the Church of the Barefoot Carmelites, never completed (now dedicated to Santa Teresa), which houses on the front door the largest papier-mâché statue in Lecce. Today it is one of the few remaining examples because the bishop of Otranto forbade the use of papier-mâché as it was made from unclean and coloured material such as newspapers.
