Built in the fourteenth century as Domus Novae (hence Dominova), the small square building in the historic center of Sorrento, is the only evidence in Campania of the ancient noble seats, the medieval institutions responsible for the administration of the res public. The Dominova Seat, which reflects an architecture of the Renaissance type, the result of numerous renovations over time that have erased the original appearance, looks like a loggia with arches closed on both sides by balustrades while spectacular perspective frescoes decorate the walls of the other two. Inside you can admire some frescoes, one of which reproduces the coat of arms of Sorrento surrounded by angels. The loggia is surmounted by a 17th century dome in green and yellow majolica. In the vault of the dome are represented the heraldic insignia of the noble families that were part of the Sedile. The small room next to the loggia, used by the noble families of the time for non-public meetings, has been the seat of the Società Operaia per il Mutuo Soccorso since 1895.
