It was August 15, 1782, the famous architect Piermarini had what for over 150 years seems to have been the only fountain in Milan inaugurated. The three pools, made of pink granite from Baveno, were supplied with water directly from Seveso with the help of a pump installed in the adjacent Via Ore, to counteract the slopes and help the flow easily reach the surface. In the main basin, the largest one, three Carrara marble sirens called "Le Teodolinde" hold the other two basins on their heads.
