The Leonardo3 Museum represents a unique opportunity to discover and deepen the multiform genius of Leonardo. The public is offered the opportunity to interact with Leonardo da Vinci’s production with over 200 interactive 3D machines and working physical reconstructions, often unpublished and never realized before.
Manuscript B, the Codex on Flight and the Codex Atlanticus – which contain most of Leonardo’s studies on technology, science and engineering – are the historical source for the long reconstruction of the great genius’ work.
From the analysis of the manuscripts, unpublished machines have been recreated: the Clavi-Viola, the Mechanical Lion, the Submarine, the Quick Crossbow, the Great Kite and many others.
It is possible to consult Leonardo da Vinci’s writings in digital format and interact with his inventions through new and engaging ways, some of which are expressly intended for children, such as Leonardo’s Laboratory – which allows you to assemble Leonardo’s inventions and print your certificate of inventor – and the Self-supporting Bridge to be physically assembled from wooden elements.
As far as artistic production is concerned, the digital restoration of the Last Supper makes it possible to investigate and discover the now lost details and colours of the famous mural painting. The reconstruction of Leonardo’s painting workshop in augmented reality makes it possible to go back to the times of genius and understand what the refectory of Santa Maria delle Grazie must have looked like when the artist was finishing the work.
