Among the most prestigious monuments in the historical centre of Melizzano, you can admire the Castle, currently owned by the Caracciolo D’Aquara family. Its origins date back to the sixteenth century. Owned by the princes of Conca, it later passed to Bartolomeo Corsi and later to the Caracciolo family. Its most valuable element is the stone and tuff staircase with openwork balustrade with floral motifs. The large internal rooms preserve all the features of the castles of the time, with a strong defence layout and with battlements and fortified towers. The Caracciolo family also owns a small manor house in Torello di Melizzano, which has prestigious rooms, a well-kept garden and a beautiful swimming pool. The rooms show on the walls paintings and prints of 600, tapestries and silks of San Leucio.
