Kept among the wonders of the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise is the lake of Castel San Vincenzo al Volturno, a small jewel that you can find in the homonymous village in the province of Isernia, in Molise. The Lake of Castel San Vincenzo al Volturno is a mirror of water that does not seem artificial, a turquoise wonder surrounded by woods in which are reflected the peaks of Mainarde. The Lake of Castel San Vincenzo is a turquoise mirror on which are reflected the imposing peaks of the Mainarde. It is an artificial lake built towards the end of the ’50s for hydroelectric purposes. It is fed by the streams of Montagna Spaccata, of the nearby towns of Alfedena and Barrea. The waters of the streams feed the Enel power stations of Pizzone, Rocchetta a Volturno and Colli a Volturno.
