It’s called Baia del Mulino d’acqua Otranto and it is a really enchanting beach near Otranto, proceeding north towards Laghi Alimini. But what kind of beach in Salento is it? And why is it less known than others, although it is so extraordinarily heavenly? The Baia del Mulino d’Acqua in Otranto is so called because once there was really a mill there, which worked thanks to the presence of water. A name that "has a reason", even if today the mill no longer exists, and only this evocative and evocative name has remained. It is a heavenly beach of fine sand, protected behind by a cliff overlooking the sea. Its shape makes it a place with little wind, because the cliffs effectively protect it from the Sirocco winds. It is a natural oasis consisting of 4 caves, three of which are connected by a tunnel that you can easily swim through. The fourth is a cave called Sfondata, because it has no cover: a natural swimming pool really enchanting in which to abandon oneself to a pleasant moment of relaxation.
