Sanctuary of Santa Maria a Parete (Queen of Victories)
In the small village of Liveri, near Nola, in the province of Naples, this abbey was built following the discovery of a fresco on a rock by a young local woman in 1514. Count Enrico Orsini, after the event, in 1518, had a church built and in 1551, next to it, a monastery was erected. The structure underwent extensions until its reconstruction in 1989 after a fire. A long avenue with a large staircase at the end crowns the entrance to the Sanctuary. The sacred image consists of a fresco of the Italo-Byzantine school, dating back to the 9th century and depicts the Mother of the Lord with her hands joined together in an attitude of prayer, dressed in a regal manner, with her head covered and crowned.
