Initially a chapel was built (1005) dedicated to St. Cataldo, then patron saint of the city, later it was incorporated into the new and larger church dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, built after 1572 during the European fervor following the victory at Lepanto against the Turks.
The very distinctive facade is all covered with a fresco of the Last Judgment by Antonio Cascini (1824).The portal is richly decorated. In the interior, on the other hand, there is a painted ceiling and two raised canvases, one by Anselmo Palmieri (Madonna of St. Luke, canvas, 18th century) and the other by Giovanni Balducci (Madonna and Child with Saints Joseph and Bishop, canvas, 17th century). The interior of the church has a single nave.
