The Museum of Puppets and Figures is a collection of late 19th century Po Valley puppets, ancient scripts and props, painted backdrops, puppets from the 18th and 19th centuries, Sicilian puppets and wooden heads from the middle of the last century, traditional shacks with suits of puppets from different Italian and European cultural areas.
Among the most important nuclei of the collection are the "fondi" Cervellati, Sansone, Ferrari. Particularly precious is the Javanese shadow theatre, dating back to the end of the 19th century, with an entire collection of hand-carved and hand-painted leather silhouettes. The Museum was inaugurated in 2000 inside the former school building of Villa Inferno – a locality in the area of Cervia’s salt-pans – designed by the Municipality of Cervia and "Arrivano dal mare!", Centro Teatro di Figura di Cervia.
