Did you know that Loreto is the Italian nativity scene capital? There are several scattered throughout the Marian city, one more beautiful than the other. Not to be missed is a visit to the Benedict XVI Nativity scene, a permanent mechanical artistic crib that is located a stone’s throw from the Sanctuary, next to the imposing monument to Saint John XXIII. The route goes into many scenes, with over 100 characters in motion, from the Annunciation of Mary to the Nativity. All the settings where the common life of the ancient crafts took place are recreated to perfection.
