Kranjska Gora is an Alpine resort in north-western Slovenia, close to the mountains and glacial lakes of the Triglav National Park. The 17th century Liznjek House in the town displays period furniture and utensils. To the west, the Zelenci nature reserve offers hospitality to nesting birds, while to the south is the central Nordic Planizza, which is important for winter sports. Near the Moistrocca Pass is the wooden Russian chapel, built by prisoners during the First World War, located between the Julian Alps and the Karavanke Mountains and is known mainly as a ski and holiday resort, as well as a popular casino. It hosts an annual Alpine Ski World Cup event, known as the Vitranc Cup, with a giant slalom race and a special men’s slalom race.
The well-known ski jump (Letalnica) is located in the nearby Tamar valley, Planica.
