The EthnoMuseum of Monti Lepini was born with the specific commitment to identify and preserve the cultural heritage and popular traditions of the Lepine communities, with a critical spirit and in constant relationship with the wider European and world reality. The museum aims to reconstruct the identity of the local community, highlighting the changes in lifestyle during the twentieth century with particular attention to the relationship between objects and life stories, challenging the trivialization of popular culture that sometimes emerges in folklore museums.
The route winds through seven environments: Quelli della Rocca, Cinema Splendore, Pasqua rossa, Habitus, Grains of history, Garage-culture, Noi loro
The Museum, inaugurated in 1999, is part of the Demo-ethno-anthropological Museum System of Lazio DEMOS and is a Museum of Quality Award of the Lazio Region. To be mentioned: the room "Red Easter", where a historical fact is evoked through the lighting of sectors of the room and off-screen narrating voices. The room called "Garage-culture", a tribute to a place shown as a creative space and family memory. The depiction, through 350 small paintings hung on the walls, of as many nicknames in use in the country.
