Palazzo Donn’Anna was built in 1630 in Posillipo on commission of Donna Anna, wife of the Viceroy Duke of Medina de las Torres. It was Cosimo Fanzago who carried out the project that provided two entrances, one from the sea and one from a road that ran along the sea of Posillipo. The project was never completed due to the premature death of Donn’Anna in 1648 during the Masaniello revolt.over the years it has been a crystal factory, a hotel, the headquarters of the Bank of Italy and today it is used as a private home.
It is said that Queen Giovanna d’Angiò met her lovers here, choosing them among the local fishermen and after a night of passion she killed them at dawn, causing them to fall from the palace.
