Villa Volpicelli, better known to fans of "Un posto al sole" as Palazzo Palladini, is one of the most elegant and prestigious villas in Naples. Located in the Posillipo district, in the small harbour of Riva Fiorita, it enjoys an enviable panoramic view of the Neapolitan gulf and it is for this reason that it has been chosen as the location for shooting most of the scenes of the Rai 3 fiction since 1999. The majestic building borders the monumental neoclassical complex of Villa Rosbery. We do not know the exact date when the villa was built, but it certainly already existed in 1629, the year in which the Fidelissimae Urbis Neapolitanae, the historical map made by Alessandro Baratta that depicts a three-dimensional view of Naples, dates back to. Here is clearly visible the high cylindrical tower of the fortified structure of Pietro Santacroce’s palace. Later the palace became state property, and then was purchased in 1884 by Raffaele Volpicelli, a wealthy coal merchant, who bought it for the sum of 51,000 lire!
The Villa, located in Via Francesco Russo, can be reached by car or by bus 140 to Via Posillipo, then walking for 10/15 minutes.
