Cove of Forno

Cala di Forno is not only a naturalistic jewel, but has also appeared in a masterpiece of Italian cinema. The small bay in the Maremma Park "played" the beach of Palos in Non ci resta che piangere, in the scene in which Mario (Massimo Troisi) and Saverio (Roberto Benigni) try unsuccessfully to stop Christopher Columbus. The inlet is enclosed between the offshoots of Cala Francese and the cliffs of Talamone and is characterized by a beach of golden sand (which becomes white under the sun) and a clean and transparent sea. Cala di Forno can be reached by land from a series of paths that wind through the park, but currently the paths are not viable. The beach remains accessible by sea and the limit of approach to the coast is marked by special buoys. To be updated in real time and with certainty about the usability of the bay is advisable to contact the Visitor Center of the Park of Maremma.
