The main church of Bacoli is the Church of St. Anne, a symbol of the religiousness of the city.
The parish and its fantastic bell tower have watched over the people of Bacoli for over three centuries. Of clear Romanesque origins, the church over time, inside, has been transformed into a purely Baroque style.
What is most amazing, is that this wonderful basilica is visible from every point and corner of the country: from Lake Miseno, up to Miliscola arriving even to the Monte di Procida. This is because the church stands out on the promontory of Bacoli, where it is possible to get there by following the homonymous alley that connects to the historical centre of the city, that of Via Gaetano de Rosa and Via Ercole.
Inside the Church, there are numerous ex-votos (more than 600!) and very characteristic are the upper glasses, representing moments and sacred scenes.
On the altar, of course, there is the wooden statue of St. Anne who watches over the town powerfully. She is the cardinal element around which the cult of the city revolves.
The side naves are a succession of niches, altars and small chapels, where there are 12 consecrated marble crosses saved from the fire of 1906.
The columns, inside, are partially in white Carrara marble with grooves and capitals in Ionic style. The ceiling of the nave has a flat roof decorated with octagonal coffers, while the ceilings of the aisles have quadrangular coffers.
