Villa Lante is a Renaissance masterpiece of art and play, one of the major achievements of the Italian sixteenth century, where stand out the Fountain of the Moors by Giambologna and the spectacular system of fountains and water games that make way for the beautiful wooded park. The particularity of Villa Lante is given above all by the garden compared to the architectural work, in fact the residence is divided into two small twin buildings, Gambara and Montalto. The garden was created and wanted by a powerful cardinal in the name of man’s supremacy over nature, enclosed in a rigorous geometric maze by the architect Jacopo Barozzi da Vignola.
