The Po Delta is a natural ecosystem of great value; the reclamation of the marshes and the works for the exploitation of fertile land carried out during the Renaissance period have given rise, according to UNESCO, to "an exceptional planned cultural landscape that remarkably preserves its original form". It is possible to visit it on foot, by bicycle, horseback, boat or motorboat along the river courses that cross it. Finally, the park is a paradise for birdwatchers. Its territory also includes the Abbey of Pomposa, the town of Comacchio, the Basilica of Sant’Apollinare in Classe.
