The coastal municipalities in the province of Ferrara, from Mesola to Bondeno, are included in the production area of ‘Asparago verde di Altedo’. Its refined and pleasantly herbaceous flavour has made it a much sought-after product in Italy and Europe.
As far as nutritional characteristics are concerned, the asparagus is richer in fibre than other vegetables and has limited quantities of fats, proteins and sugars, while it is rich in mineral elements that are fundamental for man, in particular calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and potassium.
This vegetable also has a good content of antioxidants, as well as vitamins A, B6 and C and is an excellent source of folic acid.
