Treasures of Italy | “Lucane Dolomites”

Not far from Potenza, towards Matera, the gently rolling hills of Basilicata are suddenly interrupted by the peaks of the “Lucane Dolomites” which have been given imposing names such as: the anvil, the great mother, the owl, golden eagle. Looking at the sky it is easy to see birds of prey circling, in fact in the most inaccessible ravines species such as peregrine falcons, red kites and kestrels all build their nests. Perched on the slopes of the “Lucane Dolomites” there are two really pretty villages which are worth a visit: Pietrapertosa and Castelmezzano. In Pietrapertosa certainly you have visit the remains of the Castle, which offers a breathtaking view, and the district of Saracen origin, called Arabat, characterized by narrow streets, dead ends and detached houses. Also worth a visit is the Church dedicated to St. James of the 15th century.
