The three waterfalls of Riva in Valle Aurina

The three waterfalls of Riva are located in Valle Aurina, at the entrance of the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park. The path to follow is marked in red and white and bears the number 2. Starting from the centre of Campo Tures (864 m a.s.l.) we cross the Aurino river and follow its course downhill, arriving at a crossroads. We walk straight ahead and at the second crossroads we take path no. 1 "Wasserfall" (waterfall), which leads us to the first 10 m high waterfall. The path turns left and runs along the Rio di Riva. From here the trail continues on a gentle descent. We follow the S. Francesco path for a few metres, but soon after we have to turn left to reach the second waterfall. We pass a small cave with wooden statues. The path continues to the left via the stairs, and after a steep climb the second waterfall, which is even higher, awaits us. The path that continues to the third waterfall requires a little experience, but anyway it is safe and bordered by a fence. The water of this impressive waterfall falls a good 40m. The path takes us along the Riva Gorge. We continue on this path until we reach a crossroads, where we turn left towards "Toblhof". When we arrive at this hotel, the path no. 2a takes us back towards Campo di Tures. First there is a small climb, and then the path continues along the road through meadows and woods. We have to overcome another small ascent until we reach an asphalted road that leads us through a forest, at the end of which we find ourselves above the village of Campo di Tures. Now we have to make a decision: do we continue to the beautiful Taufers Castle or do we return to the starting point? We descend to Sand in Taufers and turn left over a bridge. In the direction of "zona artigianale" we arrive at the parking lot, the starting point of our hike.
