The Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City is the most important opera house and concert hall in Mexico. Inside are murals by José Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros, among others.
The Palace of Fine Arts is the most important monument in the country dedicated to the best of fine arts and was declared an artistic monument by UNESCO in 1987.
The palace houses several rooms and exhibitions of works of art. The Grand Hall, which has a capacity of 1,900 spectators and a proscenium of 24 meters in length, stands out. In this hall have performed among others: Maria Callas, Zubin Mehta, Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Joaquín Cortés and Rudolf Nureyev.
It is home to two museums: the Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts and the National Museum of Architecture.
