It is a road and rail link of about 16 km that connects the Swedish city of Malmo to the Danish capital Copenhagen and cuts through the Strait of Oresund (from which it takes its name). Inaugurated in 2000, it consists of an open section and an underwater tunnel about 4 km long. At the point where the road sinks into the sea, a small artificial island has been created: the view from the top of the structure has something magical and evocative, it almost seems that the road gets lost in nothing and is swallowed up by the sea, along with the cars and trains that run daily.
The bridge is clearly visible from both Malmo and Copenhagen and, in some places, it is "surrounded" by wind turbines that come out of the water, as if they were trees grown in the middle of the sea.
One of the peculiarities of this bridge is that it was built almost entirely out of the water and placed in its place using specially modified cranes.
