The Castle of Oriolo seems to enter into a fairytale world, for its position, on the heights of the village and surrounded by a breathtaking panorama.
Its origins are not certain, but historians date it back to the Norman-Swabian period. In 1266, after the fall of the Swabians it became property of the Angevins. Later, in 1552, the castle was sold to the Marquises Pignone Del Carretto, who transformed it into a princely residence and feudal kingdom, keeping the property until 1899, when the manor was bought by the Soria family, who owned it until 1977. Currently the castle is owned by the Municipality of Oriolo, which has taken care of its restoration, making it accessible to the public for numerous and frequent cultural events.
Visiting the inside of the castle, there are many works worthy of admiration such as the imposing "round room", with a dome covered with 16th century frescoes, the "hall with fireplace".
