The Riace Bronzes are a pair of bronze statues, they were found in the Ionian Sea, 300 meters from the coast of Riace, in the province of Reggio Calabria. They were probably made in Athens and then sent to Rome. But the boat carrying them sank and the cargo ended up in the depths of the sea. The statues are about 2.05 m and 1.98 m,
and are located at the National Museum of Reggio Calabria and over the years have become one of the symbols of the city. The Museum is one of the most important archaeological museums in Italy: it offers visitors splendid evidence of the civilization of Magna Graecia.
