The Punta Stilo Lighthouse is a coastal lantern located on structures and materials from the archaic period identified by archaeologist Paolo Orsi during the construction of the lighthouse. Punta Stilo, also known as Cape Stylus and in the Magno-Greek period as Cocintum (Cocynthum) is a locality located in the municipality of Monasterace.
In ancient times, called with the name of Cocintum was the seat of the city of Kaulon and later of the ancient Stylus, then called Stilida from which it takes its name.
