Built at the beginning of the 18th century, the Chapel of Souls is one of the most beautiful churches in Oporto. The façade, which in 1929 was completely covered with hand-painted tiles, representing moments in the life of Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Catherine, is spectacular. The tiles of this monument, which is located near the Bolhão market and the metro station of the same name, were carefully restored in 1982. Although simple, the interior is interesting and houses the image of Nossa Senhora das Almas, which dates back to the date the chapel was built. It is located on one of the busiest streets in the centre, Rua de Santa Catarina, the most typical commercial street in Porto.
