The Museo del Tessuto e del Costume Antico, formed over the years thanks also to generous donations made by collectors, collects artefacts from the 14th to the 20th century. The collection, organized according to a thematic criterion, winds through five rooms, starting with the one dedicated to sacred vestments, where it is possible to admire a series of planets of various ages and a precious velvet with "pomegranate" decoration of the 15th century.
The costume room follows, which houses precious elements of men’s and women’s clothing, including the empire style dress that belonged to Alexandrine Bonaparte, Napoleon’s sister-in-law. Through the accessories room, where a wide range of headphones, shoes and handbags is on display, one reaches the room of the fabricated fabrics, which well illustrates the richness and variety of this kind of artifacts.
The exhibition is closed by the room dedicated to local fabrics, among which the ancient "Perugia tablecloths", which were reproduced in painting by artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Ghirlandaio, Giotto and many others.
