Sorrento

Sorrento, located along the coast of the Gulf of Salerno. It is not only a vacation spot during the summer, but also one of the most popular destinations especially for American and German tourists. Charm, striking beauty and elegance are the key words of Sorrento’s magic. Among the places to visit and things to see, in addition to the wonderful scenery, we find historical and artistic places and artifacts of great cultural value. Here, below, is a list of places to see at least once in the beautiful coastal town. Main street: clothing and accessory stores where fashion is a symbol of art. The long corso reaches the central square near the station, Piazza Lauro, and continues to Piazza Veniero; Vicoletti: narrow streets and alleys in the center full of souvenir stores or atypical shops, where you can also find high fashion, designer labels and accessories; Descent to the sea: walking down a course parallel to the main one, continuing through narrow alleys, you come out into the Villa Comunale. Here you descend to the sea, all the way down to the dark, manicured beach: the view is truly incredible. The beach is often the site of photo shoots for weddings and private ceremonies; Queen Joan’s Baths: history does not leave out its passage. This place, located far from the center of Sorrento, is steeped in legends. The Baths, the story goes, belonged to an ancient Roman Domus, where the queen, according to most nymphomaniacs, led her lovers to lie with them and then kill them; Museum: Correale Museum is the most important and is located in the center, behind Lauro Square; Statue and monument: near the municipal villa, along the pedestrian walkway, there is a monument next to the hotel a whose Dalla composed songs by Caruso; Tasso’s statue: the charm of poetry Statue of St. Antonino, patron of Sorrento; Belvedere; the narrow streets of the center lead to the most picturesque place, from where you can admire part of the high and jagged coastline.
