In Deruta, the famous village in the province of Perugia, you can enter a church studded with ceramics! The Sanctuary of Madonna del Bagno, a complex dedicated to Madonna della Quercia, or Madonna del Bagno, founded in the seventeenth century, will amaze you with its heritage of about 700 hand-painted ceramic votive tiles walled up on the walls. More than three centuries of votive offerings for an iconographic capital unique in the world, precious from an anthropological, religious and especially linguistic point of view. On the tiles are told in words and images the stories of thousands of people miraculously blessed following incidents such as the goring of a bull or the explosion of a bomb, for a spectacle of shapes and colours to be admired. To get there, take the E45 highway and take the exit "Casalina" (after Deruta coming from Perugia, after Ripabianca coming from Terni).
