Ostana , one of the most beautiful villages in Italy

Ostana is a very small village, with only 83 inhabitants. One of its main characteristics is that of being a scattered village, made up of four hamlets.Ostana enjoys a sunny and panoramic position on the Monviso group. Named for the first time in 1322 (when Manfredo IV of Saluzzo invested the marquises Manfredino and Oddone del Carretto also with the fief of Austane, to pay off a debt of 9,000 Genoese lire), it is an alpine corner of Occitania that invites you to slow walks. The best way to discover it is to walk through its hamlets, a tour that takes four hours and that in winter requires the use of snowshoes. I suggest you start your walk from the hamlet of La Villo. Here you will find the most important buildings of the village (such as the town hall). Next, take the municipal road to Champanho, a hamlet surrounded by lush vegetation. Finally, after passing the houses of Marquet, you’ll reach the charming hamlet of Miribrat. It is in this last hamlet that the real beauty of the village lies. You will find yourself in front of a poetic scene: the houses are leaning against each other, the pastures are suspended over high valleys and the view of the mountains is breathtaking.
