History of Mastroberardino winery: Mastroberardino winery was established in 1878 by Angelo Mastroberardino, Knight of the Order of the Crown of Italy and great-grandfather of Piero Mastroberardino, current president of the winery. The activity of Mastroberardino’s family goes from Angelo to his great-grandson Piero without any solution of continuity: the work of valorization of wines and vines of the territory has been continuous, during which Mastroberardinos have been pioneers in safeguarding, defending and promoting vines such as Fiano, Greco and Aglianico even in times when the cultivation of these vines was not very fashionable and limited to limited territories.

The winery is located in Campania, precisely in Atripalda, in Alta Irpinia, in the province of Avellino. The estates are located in the areas which represented the center of the typical production areas of the great wines of this region. Visits to the winery are particularly interesting and coveted by visitors from every part of the world because it represents a synthesis between the vanguard technology in the enological field and the welcoming of a secular winery, also of extreme artistic interest: the domes of the aging and refining caves host works of artists such as Raffaele de Rosa, Maria Micozzi and Doina Botez.
The interest of the winery and of the Mastroberardino family for art and culture is also witnessed by the request of the Superintendence of Pompeii to replant in a land of the ancient city of Pompeii, then used as a vineyard, the same vines of the Roman era.

Irpinia challenges Piedmont and Tuscany with the oldest winery
First great wine in the modern history of the South. The only one that in the eighties in luxury restaurants in New York cost one hundred dollars, the equivalent of 165 thousand pounds. Excellence: this is the judgment of the guide directed by Enzo Vizzari (with Ernesto Gentili and Fabio Rizzari) to a Taurasi that stunned in a recent tasting with a bottle dated 1934. The return of Mastroberardino to the highest levels is due to a courageous refounding. The eternal lucidity of Antonio, "the Doctor", with his son Piero has focused on a young but smart manager, Dario Pennino, on the French guru Denis Doubordier with the oenologist Massimo Di Rienzo, pierre Alessia Canarino. Here is the team that has won the Oscars of the 2008 guide, placing even the 2005 Fiano in the area of excellence, second for quality-price. "Campania has literally exploded," it reads. The guide sanctions the dominance of reds over whites, consolidates the prestige of Taurasi by discovering talented winemakers: Michele Perillo and Pasqualino di Prisco. And Salvatore Molettieri, the peasant poet, remains at the top with his "Vigna cinque querce riserva 2002". In Sannio shines "La Rivolta". In the reds with the Irpinia both Salerno and Caserta: they offer extraordinary bottles, "Terra di Lavoro" and "Montevetrano". In the whites duel all Irpinian: Fiano against Greco, the other two docg of Campania.
