Martina Cove

Cala Martina is immersed in the nature of the protected area of Bandite di Scarlino and can only be reached on foot, by bicycle or by boat. The path that leads to the sea winds through the pine forest and takes about 45 minutes. The small bay is located right next to the famous white sand beach of Cala Violina, but is less crowded because of the pebble and stone shoreline. The two bays are separated by the promontory of Punta Martina and share the same transparent sea where it is easy to see small fish swimming near the shore. The beach of Cala Martina is just over half a kilometre long and about ten metres wide and is not equipped. The bay is a destination for snorkeling enthusiasts and is also a "historical" place. The inlet on the coast of Grosseto is the place from where Garibaldi, fleeing from Rome, set sail for Porto Venere. The episode is remembered with a monument on the path leading to the beach and with a stone in the stretch of sea facing it.
