The small town of Kumrovec, in the north of Croatia, near the border with Slovenia, is known as the birthplace in 1892 of Josip Broz Tito.
In the village of Kumrovec we find the ethnic village "Staro Selo" which looks exactly like the era it represents – the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. This open-air museum introduces you to the life and traditional customs of the people of Zagorje.
One of the houses in the village of Kumrovec bears a sign saying "Comrade Tito was born here". No wonder this is one of the most famous houses in Croatia and throughout Europe – this is where Josip Broz, better known as Tito, was born in 1892. Tito left a big mark on the history and politics of Yugoslavia and Europe, especially in the first half of the 20th century.
