Hluboká Castle is a historical château located in the town of Hluboká nad Vltavou, and is considered one of the most beautiful castles in the Czech Republic. Located 150 km south of Prague. Built in the 12th century, Hluboká passed alternately from royal and noble hands before finally being acquired by the Schwarzenberg family in 1661. It owes its current appearance to a painstaking reconstruction in the 19th century. It resembles the Windsor Castle in Great Britain and has a Tudor Gothic style.
Connected to the Hluboká Castle by a beautiful garden, it contains a fairly complete collection of contemporary Czech and Dutch paintings from the 16th to the 18th century as well as sculptures from the Bohemian Gothic period.
They are immense and can be visited free of charge. There are more than 11,000 trees in the huge English park. Near the Castle you can also discover the Ohrada ZOO. It is one of the three oldest zoos in the Czech Republic and has undergone extensive renovations in recent years. Here you can see otters, kangaroos and parrots…
