The royal city of České Budějovice

České Budějovice has some of the most beautiful architecture in all of the Czech Republic. If you want an ideal view of the entire city, you can head up to the Black Tower. České Budějovice is known by its German name Budweis and made famous by its master brewers who have been brewing excellent beer for centuries. The Budweiser style of brewing that refers to the Budweis breweries is appreciated all over the world and even imitated to the point of a long legal dispute. The royal city of České Budějovice boasts a history of over 750 years. It is easy to visit and has the typical appearance of a medieval Bohemian town, built around its main square, Náměstí Přemysla Otakara II, which is said to be square. You can admire Samson’s fountain in the center of the town, surrounded by historical buildings, including the old town hall. In the background of the landscape you can see two towers, one black and the other white. However, there are also the third Rabenštejnská věž and the fourth Vodárenská věž (the water tower). Strolling through the old town, you’ll come across characteristic colorful houses each with its own story to tell. There is no shortage of modern art, the most striking of which is perhaps its name, which you’ll notice along Lannova třida before entering the Old Town, called Humanoids.
